About Aventics / Emerson Marine
The engineering heritage behind AVENTICS marine control technology reaches back to the Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WABCO), founded in 1869. As early as 1878, George Westinghouse was granted a patent for a marine-engine governor, demonstrating an early involvement in marine engine regulation and control.
In 1943, Westinghouse developed its first pneumatic remote control for shipping. From these early developments, marine pneumatic valves, engine controls and automation systems evolved through decades of specialised engineering.
Following Rexroth’s acquisition of WABCO’s pneumatics business in 1989, this marine engineering expertise continued under Mannesmann Rexroth and later Bosch Rexroth. The introduction of Marex OS in 1997 marked an important milestone in electronic propulsion control using CAN-bus communication.
Today, AVENTICS is part of Emerson, continuing this engineering heritage in pneumatic, electro-pneumatic and electronic marine control technology.

TH 36 Marine combines decades of marine engineering experience with first-hand knowledge of pneumatic, electro-pneumatic and electronic control systems.
Our founder, Andreas Ruether, has been directly involved in the development, engineering and global product management of Rexroth, Bosch Rexroth and AVENTICS technologies, as well as technical training and support for international engine manufacturers and OEMs.
This experience, combined with a deep understanding of marine operating conditions, helps us identify technical problems, understand system limitations and develop practical solutions for maintenance, upgrades and retrofits.
